Welcome

North Down Youth Drama was set up several years ago as part of the Ulster Youth Drama scheme and now operates with the support of North Down Borough Council and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. Based at Hamilton House in Bangor, it meets at least once a week.
North Down Youth Drama has taken part in the various National Connections programmes presenting The Dark Tower by Louis MacNeice, Cuba by Liz Lochead and After Juliet by Sharman Macdonald and other plays at the Lyric Theatre, Belfast and also at the National Theatre in London.

In addition to work on its productions the group is involved with workshops, drama courses and theatre visits. Several members of the group have gone on to study drama at university and have passed into the professional theatre and many have been involved in National Youth Theatre, Ulster Youth Theatre and other representative productions.

The group as a whole was part of the Ulster Association of Youth Drama Millennium production Yeehar! At the Belfast Waterfront Hall in July 2000. Adrian Dorrian and Rachel Manogue, both members of North Down Youth Drama, were part of the Irish Youth Theatre contribution to EXPO 2000 in Hanover, Germany.
